OUR PROGRAM IS DESIGNED:
In order to teach young children you must Have patience. By teaching a few steps at a time, Children learn best by doing. Conversation is one way of doing kids can enjoy. At SOAS we Use a hands off approach to teaching. By using easy phrases children can understand and remember. Children will be taught how to dribble standing still and then moving across the basketball court using areas defined by our instructor. As the learn how to dribble the ball to different areas, they will also be taught what each area is called. Here at SOAS we also teach basic passing fundamentals such as the two handed chest pass and the bounce pass. To wrap up our instruction every child will be taught the basic shooting skills such as how to hold the ball, body placement and form to the basket. If children lack the strength to push the ball high enough to reach the basket our instructor will create a basketball hoop, with your arms in a circle and have them shoot their basketballs through it. They will get just as much satisfaction shooting, maintain form and see the ball go through the hoop more often. Fun in shooting comes from seeing it as just that first, fun. Avoid frustration. Focus and praise children first for their form then if the shot was made.
We Inspire children with praise.. Children live for praise. Positive feedback builds confidence, improves listening capacity, helps develop emotional maturity, and enables a child’s ability to find value in self-improvement.
